GELN - Early Literacy Task Force

The GELN Early Literacy Task force is a collaborative partnership of early literacy experts working together to support literacy in the state of Michigan.  Through this collaborative effort, documents were designed to support all educators with research-supported system-wide, coaching and classroom instructional practices meant to improve literacy across the state of Michigan.

Literacy Essentials

The Literacy Essentials were developed by the GELN Early Literacy Task Force, a group of literacy experts from across the state.  They have identified 10 research-based instructional practices that should occur in "Every Classroom, Every Day".  They are considered to be the "Minimum Standard of Care " for our Michigan children.  The Michigan Virtual University has created modules for educators to learn about these important instructional practices.
