Berrien RESA Announces Parent Advisory Committee “Excellence in Education” Award Winner

On Tuesday, March 11, the Berrien RESA Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) named Dawn Conner their 2025 Excellence in Education Award recipient during their 21st Annual Excellence in Education Award reception. Conner is a Special Education Resource Teacher for Niles Community Schools. 

According to her nomination, “Dawn goes beyond traditional methods to ensure that students with disabilities not only feel included but truly thrive in their learning journey. From exciting science experiments, presentations, and reader’s theater performances where she dresses up and participates along with her students, to puppet plays, mock courtrooms, and simulated storefronts, she makes learning enjoyable while also equipping her students with valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom.” 

Individuals were nominated from school districts across Berrien County for their contributions to the education and success of students with disabilities. In total, 14 nominations were received this year, with each person being celebrated during the reception.
