Berrien RESA Announces Parent Advisory Committee 2026 “Excellence in Education” award winner

Berrien RESA Announces Parent Advisory Committee 2026 “Excellence in Education” award winner

On Tuesday, March 10, the Berrien RESA Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) named Kellie Lynch its 2026 Excellence in Education Award recipient during their 22nd Annual Excellence in Education Award reception. Lynch is a Special Education Teacher for Berrien RESA’s Lighthouse Education Center.

According to her nomination, “Kellie is profoundly ‘human’ with her students, modeling vulnerability and honesty, allowing her students to feel seen rather than judged. She offers empathetic understanding and insight, ensuring her students can recognize their own strengths before they are ever asked to tackle their weaknesses. She celebrates her students for exactly who they are.”

Individuals were nominated from school districts across Berrien County for their contributions to the education and success of students with disabilities. In total, 9 nominations were received this year, with each person being celebrated during the reception.

PAC includes two representatives from each school district in Berrien County. The committee works with Berrien RESA to discuss special education and creates an additional link between Berrien RESA and the local school districts.
